Excellent experience. The recovery equipment itself made the recovery period much more comfortable.

Naomi's service was top-notch from start to finish. Prices very reasonable, and worth every penny. Highly recommended.

I went in to have a cataract lens replaced only to find out that my retina had torn. A gas bubble was used to hold the repaired retina in place so I unexpectedly had to be face down for twelve days. Naomi was wonderful - she brought the equipment (a full set, whether we thought we would need all of it or not) the same day, set it up, demonstrated it, adjusted it for my particular size. The equipment was in good condition and very clean. And she returned ten days later, disassembled and took the equipment away. A fantastic service for a very reasonable price. Naomi emanated compassion and professionalism. Cannot recommend her or her company highly enough.

For those who are about to experience Vitrectomy surgery, I highly recommend Calgary Vitrectomy Recovery Equipment for rental of support equipment in your home following the days or weeks you will need to keep your head in the appropriate position to enhance and facilitate your recovery from this surgical procedure. The equipment's set-up and use was expertly and clearly explained by the company representative, who delivers it to one's home. I recommend using this equipment, which is easy to use, and allows the patient to rest comfortably, allowing him/her to get the necessary rest while recovering. The dis-assembling of the equipment is also explained in a clear fashion. I recommend this company highly for one's post-Vitrectomy needs; they are kind, understanding and knowledgeable about what you are going through.

I highly recommend the recovery equipment available to rent through Calgary Virectomy Recovery. The devices were of great assistance to my mother after her recent retina surgery. The chair was especially valuable both during the day and at night, in assisting with sleep. The headrests for travel were also invaluable. We thank Debby for both her advice and efficient service. The rental was a small price to pay for the comfort the equipment provided my mother during her 10 days of being face down. We were so grateful these devices were available and greatly contributed to the success of her recovery. Thank you.

After hearing that I had to sleep, walk and talk with my head down for at least two weeks due to surgery for 8 tears in my retina, I thought, oh no this is impossible for me to do being an active energetic person and someone who sleeps on their back. We weren't able to get the equipment immediately due to weather and timing. The first night I slept in a makeshift pillow arrangement and woke up so many times due to uncomfortable positioning I thought this is going to be a nightmare. The next day we were able to pickup the equipment and got it home to set up. The first night seemed a bit weird because of the positioning, but after a few nights I adjusted and found that I was getting a good nights rest. Some days I had neck pain from walking around looking at the floor or ground and found that going back to the sleeping body cushion or using the table support was such a relief that I really appreciated having them. I found the seated support chair was a life saver for boredom. Being that I couldn't read or text I thought what am I going to do other than drive my better half nuts. Well low and behold I was able to binge watch a series that I never had time to watch before. Time moved slow, but not as slow as I first thought. What a relief and a creative way to recover from eye injuries. I'm sure glad that we found this equipment from a recommendation and I would highly recommend it to anyone else. I've already talked about it to co-workers when they asked me how I was able to manage for two weeks because they know how active I am. Thank you very much for making my recovering a lot more pleasant than I first thought.

I had a molecular hole in each eye. The doctor provided the information to contact Calgary Vitrectomy for needed equipment. Looking back the surgery was the easy part, the recovery is very challenging. The equipment made the recovery much more tolerable and comfortable. The equipment made all the difference. The service was excellent, they were very accommodating making it as easy as possible. Thanks again could not have done without it. It was a must to have the equipment.

Impossible to keep your postering in a 90 degree angle for two weeks 20 hours a day or longer after a vitrectomy. The only way I made it through this horrific recovery period was by using this equipment. Don't hesitate to rent it. It makes a huge difference.

I appreciated everything they did for me when I contacted them last minute to make arrangement. They were understanding, helpful and pleasant to deal with. I can't thank them enough for their equipment. I knew this was going to be a challenge when I found out I needed to be face down for two weeks. I then heard about Calgary Vitrectomy and went on their website to read more on the equipment they offered. I am so thankful I went with the equipment and I would encourage anyone reading this testimonial to rent the equipment. It made two weeks far more tolerable and somewhat relaxing...........if it is possible to relax when you are face down for hours on end! Thank you again to the owners of Calgary Vitrectomy! All the best.

It barely needs mentioning that recovery post-op from retinal/macular surgeries is a nightmare. Without the equipment from Debbie I don't even think my mother could have gotten through this again. If you think you may be able to suffer through without, I'd urge you to reconsider. I'm so thankful these folks had the ingenious and extremely compassionate idea of providing people with this service, and they do it with great care and kindness. For the texts and helpful drop offs, taking care of pick ups if you are from out of town, and overall empathy in their service, I can't say enough good things. Thanks for making it easier!

I recently had surgery to repair a hole in my retina. Before the surgery I was hearing some pretty bad things, as everyone hears, before my impending appointment at the hospital. I called Co-op health wondering if they had something to help me through my impending surgery. They put me on to Calgary Vitrectomy equipment. They not only relieved my fears but supplied me with the equipment I needed. I can not even try to think of getting through this without their help. I breezed through the surgery and more importantly breezed through my recovery. The drive from the hospital to home was nearly impossible to do. Holding my head completely horizontal for 4 days would have been impossible. Thank you so very very much. The rental of their equipment was worth every penny. Again thank you. Annie Appleyard

A huge thank you for the excellent service and advice you gave us when we rented the posturing devices with the attached face cradles after my husband's emergency surgery for retinal detachment. We really appreciated the fact you met us on a day that you were not opened. After 2 restless nights my husband was able to sleep more comfortably and safely. We were very grateful and will continue to highly recommend use of these aids to any we know recovering from eye surgery.

We live in Edmonton and when I found out the recovery procedure of keeping face down for a week after my macular hole surgery I started looking for recovery equipment. I was shocked that the only place I could find was in Calgary! But the ladies at Vitrectomy Recovery rentals were so easy to deal with, they made the whole ordeal of renting from another city seamless and easy. I had my kit 2 days before surgery and I was glad I did rent it as it really helped make a horrible situation bearable! Debby and Kelly are well organized and run a great business with good communication! Thanks again!

My husband, Wayne had an emergency vitrectomy surgery at the end of August. We had no idea of what would be involved with this procedure. The nurse at he eye clinic gave us a brochure about renting the recovery equipment. We were able to pick up the equipment on a Saturday even though the office itself was closed and arrangements were made to pick it up at owner's daughter's home. We were also able to extend the rental from two weeks to three. Very accommodating people to work with and would recommend this business to anyone. Thank you for providing such good customer service!

Rick had to have surgery for a detached retina June 2, 2015 when the doctor said he would have to keep his head parallel to the ground for a couple weeks Rick thought no big deal. Then thought about it a little more and said before he went into surgery maybe I better go rent the equipment package from Calgary Vitrectomy just in case... It was only minutes away from the hospital found it fairly easily (I'm not a big city driver). The girls were wonderful! they explain the use of all the equipment and it was all clean and the covers were spotless. They gave me directions back to the hospital and Rick was out. Because he was not supposed to change elevation to much in the first 24 hours they let him stay in the hospital overnight ( It is actually only day surgery! - very quick!) So I brought in the bed equipment for him. In the morning he said he was thankful that we rented the equipment he would have never made it throught the night without it! Travelling back to BC, he used a piece of the equipment inthe car for his head to rest on. When we were home we set up the chair in the living room and there it sat for 4 weeks! On our scheduled visit for the eye back in Calgary we dropped off the equipment - the girls were so nice - we thought we had only used the equipment for 3 weeks so we paid up the extra one week we hadn't paid for and left - they were both so friendly and understanding. We headed back - and then when we got home had a phone message that we actually had the equipmetn for 4 weeks and should owe for another week but that they would just waive it for us !!!! Excellent Service if necessary wouldn't hesitate to return. Awesome girls - can't say enough !!! Thank you again for all your help !!

First and foremost I would like to thank Debbie for all your help in making a difficult and scary procedure into a bearable and compassionate experience. When I was told I needed to be facedown for 2 weeks after a vitrectomy operation I absolutely couldn't imagine how I could go through this "torture". My fears about the procedure itself were one thing but the way Debbie handled my concerns and reassured me, was more than anyone could ask. The equipment supplied made the experience bearable and the outcome a success. I had a scan 2 days ago and I couldn't believe my eyes-my retina had totally repaired itself, after 6 weeks of recovery. I knew the importance of keeping the head down from my Dr. for this operation to be a success but I didn't know at the time how effective it would be- the proof is in a picture and a picture is worth a thousand words. I cant imagine the outcome if I didn't have this equipment in my corner! All I can say is that, in my mind,it's worth it! Thanks again Debbie for all your help- I'm so happy about my outcome. Your service and professional manner exceeded my expectations. Much appreciated!!!!

First of all I want to Thank Debbie for the compassion she has in Vitrectomy Equipment. If IT wasn't for the Doctors giving us her phamplet and us calling her up,I'm not sure I would have been at all comfortable for a week face down. From the moment we called and met her in NW Calgary she explained all the Recovery Equipment and told us to call once we got home if we had any questions at anytime. We were lucky we had to rent the equipment for only a week but all I can say is what a relief the equipment was. Please don't hesitate to call Debbie she was a life saver in Vitrectomy Recovery. Once again Thank-you! C&C

It was bad enough that I had to have emergency eye surgery for a detached retina, but when the surgeon told me I was going to have to be face down for the following 2 weeks, my first thought was "no way and my back is going to kill me". Thankfully he gave me a brochure for Calgary Vitrectomy. As soon as I got home I phoned and talked to Debbie. She was so pleasant and understanding and arranged to have the equipment delivered in a couple of hours. Debbie was very professional, set up the equipment and explained how to use it. As difficult as the recovery was, I don't know what I would have done without the equipment. It was an absolute godsend!! I would highly recommend the company for any one that requires face down recovery. Thanks so much!!

Hello, I had the misfortune of having 2 separate retinal detachments at the same time. After my surgery, I was directed by my Doctor to keep my head down, look at the floor, for 8 - 10 days. Without the equipment I rented from Deb (Calgary Vitrectomy) I don't know how I would have managed. Renting the equipment from day 1, was the best decision I could made. Deb was most helpful and considerate. Thanks!

My husband had emergency bilateral retinal detachment surgery. Almost unheard of. And a very stressful time for us both. The original prognosis was not good but, thanks in part to the wonderful equipment rented from Rick and Debbie, we now hope there will be some sight in the right eye at least. The head down position was dreadful and seemed impossible. My husband has also had 3 back surgeries and is scheduled for a 4th. Having the 3 pieces of apparatus meant he could move about among them and give his back a rest as each different piece positioned his muscles slightly differently - while always maintaining that all important head down position. Although not literally yet, we can now figuratively see light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks for the service (Rick came to our hotel room to set it all up for us) and understanding (Debbie was available and listened on the Sunday after the surgery - something I needed very much).

Interesting to hear they have been thru it & are willing to share experiences / tips - very valuable. Thanks again!!

I truly support all previous testimonials provided to Debbie and Rick on this page. From my experience, the two week period convalescing with my face down virtually 24/7 was much easier with the equipment from Calgary Vitrectomy Recovery. Without this support equipment, for instance walking around a little bit, it didn't take very long for my neck and upper back muscles to ache. This pain was quickly resolved as soon as I nestled back into the support equipment. Both Debbie and Rick are very knowledgeable about the issues recovering patients are going through. They are patient, encouraging and provide great equipment and customer service at a reasonable price. Thank you both very much!

I recently had surgery for a detached retina. After surgery the doctor indicated that I would have to be face down with little head movement for one to two weeks. He recommended head support to maintain this position and gave us a Calgary Vitrectomy brochure. We rented all three supports and I am thankful we did. Without them it would have been next to impossible to hold the correct position and minimize head movement during the day or sleep at night. Also, without this equijpment you find out pretty quickly your head is heavy and neck + shoulder/back muscles become quite sore without the supports. Rick was excellent in explaining how to use the equipment, as well as, why it is important to maintain the correct position while minimizing movement. He had many good tips, gave us a better understanding of the surgery, healing process, and answered questions we didn't know we had.

When the surgeon said I would have to be face down for 17 days!!! after surgery for a macular hole even to sleep, I thought no way in the world could I ever do this. I received a brochure from the hospital for Calgary Vitrectomy and I can honestly say they are incredible, wonderful, patient people with products I could not have made it through those 17 days without. The equipment was esssential to making life bearable but the time and hints and suggestions that Debbie gave when she brought the equipment out were a Godsend! I wear glasses so being face down with them on seemed undoable until she suggested I roll up a towel so my glasses are not pressed into my face. So many other hints I cannot even mention without running out of room. Suffice it to say, they understand what we will be going through, have the necessary equipment to rent out but also are totally customer service focussed and were there when I called with questions. LOVE these people!!!! And the products too

Sooo thankful to Debby and all her help. We were dumbfounded when we found out my husband had a detached retina and that after surgery he would have to remain in a face down position for one to two weeks. (No reading or computer work) We were given the pamphlet for the Calgary Vitrectomy Recovery Equipment but I thought that because we were from Red Deer it wasn't really an option for us. I emailed them and got the most wonderful caring service. Debby arranged to meet us at our hotel the next morning before the surgery. She brought all the equipment and showed us how to use it. The tips for the sleeping position with the cutting board, socks and rolled towel were very helpful. The two way mirror along with the seated support worked great for watching T.V. Without the equipment it would have been a very long week and the healing process might not have been as successful. We didn't know if we were going to need it for the second week or not and it was a relief that we didn't have to make that call until after we had seen the doctor. As it turned out, we didn't need it anymore as the re-attachment went so well. I arranged with Debby for the return of the equipment at the doctor's office. I would like to send out a 10 thumbs up for this wonderful company, and Debby, for their great service. It made a very traumatic situation a lot more bearable. Thank you Debby! Krista & Marc

When I first heard the words "Face down recovery" for 10 days I said "no way" I can do this. Sleep on my stomach... My wife read the brochure from the Doctor's office and checked it out online. She immediately called to book setup on my return home from surgery. The chair and mirror was a lifesaver. The first two nights home I slept on the chair until able to sleep on my stomach with the use of the sleeping support. The staff were very informative and commend the great service. My sister recommended getting this equipment when I had my surgery done. She had both of her eyes done and used other equipment for her first surgery. The second time she used the recovery equipment from Calgary Vitrecomy and said it made her 'face down' time so much better. I don't live in Calgary so they sent the equipment to me and had it picked up when I was finished using it which made it so easy for me. With the chair, table top, and bed equipment I was able to change body positions and stay more comfortable. The face piece that fits on the table was great to use in the car especially on my way home from the hospital. The people at Calgary Vitrectomy were very kind and informative and I highly recommend getting equipment from them.

I have no idea how I would have been successful in recovering from my macular hole surgery without the equipment provided by Calgary Vitrectomy. The service and advice I received from the company representative when he delivered the equipment was invaluable. My worse fear was not being able to sleep on my stomach for a week but with this equipment I did it! With only being able to watch television (no reading or computer use) the chair & mirror made it very tolerable. I could visit with friends & grandchildren with the use of the ingenious two-way mirror & the chair or table support. I am so grateful to Calgary Vitrectomy for their compassion & concern in ensuring this would be as positive experience as possible.
